Germain Fabius Brest

Germain Fabius Brest (1823 - 1900) is a French orientalist painter. He is a student of the painters Émile Loubon in Marseille, and of Constant Troyon in Paris. On the advice of Loubon, who had made a stay in Palestine which had deeply marked him, Fabius Brest made a trip to Turkey from 1855 to 1859, from where he returned with many paintings of landscapes. The Orient and especially Oriental architecture remained his main sources of inspiration throughout his life.
