ABOUT THIS PIECE Thomas Allom's View of London from the steeple of St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street, looking east towards St Paul’s Cathedral was created in c. 1840 and is in private collection. The size of the work is 37,2 x 73,7 cm and is made of pencil, pen and brown ink on paper. The Artist: English orientalist painter Thomas Allom (1804 – 1872) trained as an architect and was a founder member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was responsible for the development of the area around Ladbroke Grove in Kensington, as well as other London projects.
