ABOUT THIS PIECE Classic Painter John Ferneley's Study of a Saddled Bay Hunter was created in 1828 and the painting is in Yale Center for British Art, New Haven. The original size of the work is 71 x 91.4 cm and is made of oil on canvas. The Artist: John Ferneley (1782 - 1860), was an English painter who specialised in portraying sporting horses and hunting scenes. Although his rendition of horses was stylised, he is regarded as one of the great British equine artists, second perhaps only to George Stubbs.
